American Muscle & Performance Cars is a locally
owned and operated facility. We started this
business with the goal of providing the public with
a service facility that helps "you" build your
Dreams, and includes "you" in the restoration and
repair of your Classic Car or Hot Rod.

We are here to get your car "out of the
garage or better yet, out from under a
blue tarp, and on the road again"

AMPC is willing to work with you and your budget,
in order to make that Dream Car a Reality.

The Owners, Jim and Lori Maffei have lived in the
San Joaquin Valley all of their lives. The store
manager Jim Walters has worked on everything
from Kenworth trucks and farm tractors to
Porshes, Jaguars, MBZ and BMW's. He is a Master
ASE Technician in cars and trucks and is a Master
GM Technician. He has built Porsche time trial and
autocross cars, as well as the only Porsche mini
stock race car in Stockton in the early '90s'

The first car that Jim Maffei bought in 1975, after
working in the farms was his 1967 Camaro RS. It
has undergone many changes through the years,
but still endures. It had a semi-frame off in 1980
when Jim and our manager Jim Walters made a
283 into a 302, installed 3 dueces and a Muncie 4
speed. You talk about "SMOKIN", thats what it did.
It went through it's tamer period when we put a
Turbo 400 behind it, 'cause he kept breaking
gears; but the THM 400 was awesome, when it
shifted, the keys flew to the back seat. Now we
have re-cammed it for Nitrous Oxide injection and
redid the exhaust system. OH MY GOSH, WOW
what a difference. We had to fix the intermediate
sprag in the transmission after 8 shots of NOS, but
what the heck, it was time anyway, right?

Owning a Classic Car or Muscle Car is more than
trying to win every car show or every race. It is a
"lifestyle" that never goes out of style. Going to
cars shows is about sharing time with your family
and friends. Creating bonds with other car owners,
your children and grandchildren. Car shows are
about seeing what others are doing and showing
what you did. There is no perfect car, just your car
the way that you want it to be, to drive like you
want it to and get you back home again, safely and
comfortably.

We understand the frustration and anxiety that
comes from trying to get your vehicle the way that
you want it. The TV Shows make it look so easy,
but they don't tell you how much it costs.

We will evaluate your vehicle for free and work up
a restoration plan that will not leave you feeling
like you have to rob a bank to get your car back.
