1969 CAMARO CONVERTIBLE
Take a 1969 Camaro Convertible bought on EBay, with a 307
and a 3 speed manual transmission and turn it into a real
Muscle Car.
Start with a HOT 396 c.i.d. motor, add a Keisler 5 speed
transmission with a hydraulic clutch assembly, a 12 bolt Posi
with 3:73 gears, 4 wheel disc brakes, with Hotchkiss
suspension , and you now have a real time HOT ROD!!

This is what the Camaro looked like when it was brought to us, blown
up motor, 3 speed on the floor shifter, a 10 bolt rear end and drum
brakes all around.
What you see and what you get when you buy online without
checking it out first, can be frustrating.
There were normal rust issues, but this one went beyond normal. It
turns out that this car came from back EAST!
When we pulled up the carpet, this is what we found.
This is just the floor pans, It got worse from here!!
The rust that you see on the pinch welds goes way beyond and into
the rocker panel itself. So deep that there was no metal good enough
to weld in new floor pans to. Oh Boy! Replacing the rocker panels.
Not too bad of a job, but the customer didn't want to have to repaint
the car. So we had to be extra careful of the rest of the car and paint,
even though it was rusted considerably.
So out with the old rusted metal and in with new full rockers, not just
replacement outer skins. Installation of new floor pans and POR-15
treatment of remaining floor and frame.
Now that the body is taken care of, it is time for the sub-frame.
Now for the fun stuff, the motor, transmission and rear end.
A 396 built pretty healthy, a Kiesler 5 speed transmission with a
hydraulic clutch and a 12 bolt posi with 3:73 gears.
The suspension is Hotchkiss, lowering springs, front and rear,
polyurethane bushings and anti-sway bars.
For the best in handling on the road.
4 wheel disc brakes with a 9 inch single diaphragm power booster
stops the car and the headers with custom dual exhaust lets
everyone know that you have a big block and that you mean business!
Sub-frame cleaned and POR-15 rust preventative applied.
